Assign sequential numbers to pipes, ducts, fittings, and fabrication parts along their connected route. Path-aware BFS traversal writes clean, predictable IDs to any parameter — in one click.
Path-aware traversal and parameter-driven prefixes. Built for MEP modelers who need clean, predictable IDs across thousands of elements.
BFS walks the connected route from the lowest open connector through every pipe, fitting and accessory. Stable, directional, and survives disconnected sub-graphs.
BFS · Lowest Z firstPrefer manual control? Switch modes and elements are numbered in the order you picked them — ideal for one-off labeling or non-connected sets.
Click-to-numberElements that share identical parameter values receive the same number. Pick one or many group keys — perfect for assembly-style counts and shared-instance naming.
Shared parameter keysDrive prefixes from any element parameter. Elements with value HW become HW1, HW2… — the perfect mix of automation and discipline-based labeling.
Target Mark, Comments, or any writable instance parameter. A live writable / read-only badge tells you instantly whether your pick will stick.
Writable checkToggle between Selection and Active View. The selection pill shows a live count badge — click to lock in the elements you'll number.
Segmented toggle between Symbol (fixed text like A) and From Parameter (per-element value). The format preview updates live as you type.
Three mono-font fields drive the output format. The grey FORMAT preview shows the next three values in the sequence — e.g. A1 → A2 → A3.
A dark/light segmented control flips between Path Order (BFS from the lowest open connector) and Selection Order. The descriptor below updates so the chosen logic is never ambiguous.
Flip the switch and elements that share the selected parameter values receive the same number. The Grouping Fields button opens a multi-select picker for the keys.
Editable, searchable combo of every instance parameter on the current selection. The green ✓ WRITABLE badge confirms the parameter accepts text before you run.
A live readout of ELEMENTS, GROUPS, and RANGE sits above the action bar. Hit ▶ EXECUTE and every number is written in a single Revit transaction.
Element Numbering ships as a bundled MSI package. Run the installer and the add-in registers itself with every supported Revit version automatically.
Obtain the latest ElementNumbering-Setup.msi from your Motion-Site distribution package.
Double-click the MSI and follow the prompts. The installer detects every installed Revit version (2022–2026) and places the add-in in the correct add-ins folder automatically.
Open any Revit project. The MotionSite tab appears in the ribbon — click Numbering › Item Numbering to start.
