Connect MEP Elements has no panels, no dialogs, no forms. Run the command, click two elements in the model, and the connector math happens automatically — rotation, translation, branch movement, all of it.

Smart Connector Detection

Automatically scans every connector on the picked element — pipes, ducts, fittings, equipment, fixtures — and picks the one closest to your click. No drilling into properties.

Calculates the exact rotation and translation needed to bring the second connector flush against the first — across any axis, at any angle, in 3D.

When you align the second element, every element already connected to it moves with it. Whole branches translate as a group — no broken runs, no orphans.

Shape Matching

Prefers connectors with matching profiles — round to round, rectangular to rectangular, oval to oval. Mismatches still align but get an advisory warning.

For round connectors, the closest matching radius wins. Saves you from accidentally connecting a 4-inch supply to a 2-inch branch in a crowded model.

A modeless command that stays out of your way. The whole loop is just two clicks and an ESC.

1. Launch from Ribbon

Open any Revit project, hit the MotionSite tab, and click Connect MEP in the Modeling Tools panel. The selection filter activates immediately.

2. Pick the First Element

Click near the connector you want to use as the anchor. The status bar reads “Select FIRST element (click near desired connector).” The closest connector wins.

3. Pick the Second Element

Click the element you want to move. The tool finds the best matching connector, computes the alignment transform, and snaps it — and everything connected to it — into place.

4. Repeat or Exit

The tool resets and prompts for the next first element. Press ESC once to reset selection, twice to exit. Every alignment is undoable.

If profiles don't match (e.g. round to rectangular), alignment still happens — Revit just won't form a physical connection. You get a heads-up, not a blocker.

When the second element belongs to a connected run, the entire branch translates with it. No orphaned pipes, no broken fittings down the line.

One-click MSI
installer

Connect MEP Elements ships as a bundled MSI package. Run the installer and the add-in registers itself automatically — no manual file copying or config edits required.

Download the MSI

Obtain the latest ConnectMEPElements-Setup.msi from your Motion-Site distribution package.

Run the installer

Double-click the MSI and follow the prompts. The installer detects your Revit version (2022–2026) and places all files in the correct add-ins folder automatically.

Launch Revit

Open any Revit project. The MotionSite tab appears in the ribbon — click Connect MEP in the Modeling Tools panel to start connecting.
