Assembly
Renamer

Prefix or suffix every selected assembly with a value pulled from a room parameter — or the assembly's own parameters. Auto-backs up the original name, previews every change, and writes them in a single transaction.

Bulk rename,
without the rework

Pull values from rooms or the assembly itself, apply them as a prefix or suffix, and revise the result later without losing the original. Built for spool naming, level grouping, and shop-ready BOM exports.

Prefix or Suffix

Pick a side and the value snaps to it. A-CHWS-001 as a prefix, CHWS-001-A as a suffix — same source value, two formats, one click to switch.

Auto Backup & Revise

Before the first rename, the original spool name is copied to the assembly's Description parameter. Re-run later and the tool detects the backup and revises the prefix instead of stacking another one on top.

Side-by-Side Preview

Every change appears in a paired table — current name on the left, new name on the right, status badge on the end. Skim, multi-select, and select-in-Revit before you commit.

Current ↔ new
Custom Separator

Default is -, but it's a single live-edit field. Use _, ., or a space — anything sticks between the value and the base name and the preview reflects it instantly.

One-Click Restore

Made a mistake on a hundred spools? Hit Restore. Every selected assembly snaps back to the original name pulled from its Description backup — no undo stack gymnastics.

From Description
Room-Aware Source

Choose Room Param and the tool locates each assembly within its containing room and pulls Number, Name, or any room parameter as the value. Choose Assembly Param and it reads the assembly's own fields.

Select Assemblies Card

Click ↻ REFRESH, draw a window or Ctrl+click in Revit, then Finish. The card shows a live count of selected assemblies and the rooms they intersect.

Value Source Toggles

Two radio-style cards: Room Param reads the room that contains the assembly, Assembly Param reads the assembly's own parameters. The mono caption beneath each option explains the scope.

-
Parameter + Separator

A searchable, editable combo lists every parameter on the selected source. To its right, a tiny mono input holds the separator character — orange-tinted and centered so it reads as the connective glue.

A--A
Position Toggles

Same paired-card pattern with a live mono example baked into each option — VALUE — SpoolName for prefix, SpoolName — VALUE for suffix. The selected option glows orange.

Format Example Hint

A subtle warm-orange callout sits below the options with a mono preview of the final name format, e.g. A1-CHWS-001. It updates the moment you change source, parameter, separator or position.

Restore Strip

A soft-red callout at the bottom of the configure panel holds the 🗑 RESTORE button. Click it to roll every selected assembly back to its original Description-backed name — useful when a workflow needs reverting at scale.

42
Stats Strip

Three large mono counters sit above the preview table — WILL RENAME (green), ERRORS (red), NO CHANGE (grey). They update live the moment a new preview is generated.

Preview Table & Execute

Five columns — # · ID · Current Name · New Name · Status. Multi-select rows to ▣ SELECT IN REVIT, then hit ▶ EXECUTE RENAME in the footer to commit the whole batch in one Revit transaction.
